Saturday Mornings of Archaeology

A monthly meetings programme is arranged between October and June each year with different speakers.  The meetings are organised in conjunction with Rugby Art Gallery and Museum (RAGM) and normally scheduled for the second Saturday of each month.   Therer is no charge to attend and we welcome both RAS members and non-members.  More details of the programme will be added as speakers are booked.

 Saturday 10th June 2017 at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum (RAGM), 10:00 for 10:25 start as usual

Annual General Meeting (papers have already been circulated), followed by a presentation by Mike Southall Leader of Lutterworth Fieldworking Group about the exciting finds at Shawell during Spring and Summer 2016 - 2017

Is it a Round house, is it a Roman structure or is it a Barrow?
At the end of the season, last year, we still had a dilemma as to what we had excavated. This year we hope to find out !

Saturday 15th July Rugby Art Gallery and Museum - Archaeology Day, Rugby, includes a talk from Dr Graham Morgan starting 10:00 about Foresnsic Archaeology.

Sunday 16th July Lutterworth Fieldworking Group - Test pits in Lutterworth

Autumn 2017 meetings:

Saturday 14th October 2017, Jake Streatfeild James of Costwold Archaeology will talk about technology in archaeology, particularly use of LiDAR.

Saturday 11th November (date to be confirmed), Christine Hancock will ive a talk on the History of Hillmorton
