Tripontium: Book

by Jack Lucas F.S.A.

ISBN: 0-953-12650-1

Edited and Published by Irene Glendinning

This publication is currently out of print, but a new edition is being prepared for release in early 2006. Edition 1 of the book is described below.

This is an entertaining account of the life’s work of the author, an independent archaeologist and chairman of Rugby Archaeological Society (RAS). In just 150 pages the book features more than 100 illustrations, many in full colour.

This provides an insight into life in Roman Britain through evidence recovered from excavations over more than thirty years. As the title suggests the focus of the book is the Romano-British settlement of Tripontium, which is situated on the borders of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire . Many of the evidence and artifacts recovered from this and neighbouring sites have provided important information about our Romano-British ancestors.

The Tripontium Collection is made up of finds from the site which have been carefully restored and conserved. The entire collection is now on loan to Rugby Borough Council and is the major exhibit in Rugby Museum, which opened on 18th April 2000.
